School Board President John Diamond

The Oak Harbor school board has chosen a familiar face to be the interim superintendent after Superintendent Lance Gibbon leaves this summer. Karst Brandsma will fill the position on July 1 and serve while the school board begins the process of selecting a permanent superintendent. Mr. Brandsma previously served as an interim assistant superintendent for the Oak Harbor Schools in 2013. Board President John Diamond said Brandsma’s familiarity with the staff and the school district is one of the reasons they chose him. Emily Gilbert has the story with more details in the Whidbey News-Times.
