STANWOOD-CAMANO SCHOOL DISTRICT: Public hearing on school board boundaries (SCSD)
The Stanwood-Camano School District posted this item in the news section of their website on Feb. 21, 2023.
The Stanwood-Camano School Board will hold a public hearing March 7 to discuss new School Board director district boundaries.
This process does not affect where students go to school. Director district boundaries are different from school attendance area boundaries.
Redistricting current School Board director districts means updating the boundaries of existing School Board director districts.
The Stanwood-Camano School District’s Board of Directors consists of five citizens who reside within the School District — one each from four equal-sized districts and one at-large position. Board members are elected by voters to serve four-year terms on a staggered basis.
The Stanwood-Camano School District is required to redraw the boundaries of its five Board of Directors’ districts every 10 years, following the U.S. Census. The redistricting process is to ensure the director districts are of nearly equal population utilizing 2020 U.S. Census data.
See the draft maps of the new boundaries HERE.
