Board Corner

Last board meeting, we welcomed Luisa Russo as the new Student Board Representative, taking over for Carter McKnight, who finished his term by chairing the meeting. During the meeting we approved our yearly renewal of several agreements, including the district’s membership in the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association. We also made some minor updates to policy and approved Island County’s request to deed over a small section of property along Maxwelton Road that could be used to add a turn lane at a later date.

Our next meeting is on June 18, a week later than it usually would be, because we want to make it possible for the building principals to attend the goal-setting retreat and workshop. This is when we as a board put together the list of goals for the superintendent to direct the business of the district over the next year.

On Wednesday, June 18, 2025 the South Whidbey School Board will have a Retreat (IN PERSON ONLY – NOT RECORDED) starting at noon followed by an Executive Session at 5:00pm, and then a Workshop starting at 6:30pm via ZOOM WEBINAR and IN PERSON at the South Whidbey Elementary School Dr. Julie Hadden Community Board Room at 5380 Maxwelton Road, Langley.
