The Oak Harbor city council objected after they found out the Mayor and the city staff changed the access point for the city’s future 75-acre park. The City Council passed an earlier resolution saying access to the park would be along Gun Club Road. After voicing concerns about the proposed change and the effect the increased traffic would have on the neighborhoods involved, Mayor Severns and his staff agreed to proceed with the Gun Club Road access as originally planned. Councilmember Beth Munns stated the access from Gun Club Road would divert too much traffic through a neighborhood and would would ruin it. Emily Gilbert has the story in the Whidbey News-Times.
