Gail Fleming, currently the chairperson of Langley’s citizen-led Parks and Open Space Commission, announced her write-in candidacy for Langley City Council Position 5. In an interview, Fleming said she decided to declare her candidacy for the position in part because Scott Chaplin, who had previously filed to run for Position 5, had been chosen as the new mayor of Langley. She will be running against Tony Gill as incumbent Peter Morton is not running for re-election. Kira Erickson has the story in the South Whidbey Record.
