Dear neighbors,
An important part of my job as your representative is hearing directly from you.
I’m excited to hold coffee chats where people get time to share their comments, stories, and ideas. My next virtual coffee chat will be from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on July 15th.

Soon, I’ll start hosting in-person coffee chats, trying to visit every corner of the 10th District.
We’ll also continue to have virtual coffee chats and virtual town halls. Some people have trouble getting to in-person events, and I’ve found that virtual meetings give many people the opportunity to participate. We found the same thing during the 2021 virtual session of the Legislature, with thousands of people around the state taking part in the chance to testify remotely on legislation.
Thank you to everyone who’s taken the time to meet with me or attend a town hall. I look forward to hearing from you at this next event–and to seeing you later this summer!
I’ve been working hard this interim to meet with constituents, local leaders, and community groups to learn about area priorities and develop policies for the next legislative session. Here a few highlights from the last month.
Thanks to City of Stanwood leaders for taking the time to discuss much-needed improvements to Hwy 532—and for inviting me to the opening of the Port Susan Trail! I’m proud to have helped secure $742,000 in the Capital Budget for the next phase of the Trail.
I also recently met with community leaders about improving recreation opportunities in South Whidbey. Thanks to Rich Bacigalupi, Matt Simms, Jennifer Cox, and Doug Coutts (not pictured) for taking the time to discuss their vision for strengthening our community!
It was an honor to join Rep. April Berg and the Washington State School Directors’ Association to discuss dual credit options, like College in the High School, Running Start, and CTE Dual Credit. I’m looking forward to partnering with Rep. Berg to improve access to these valuable programs, and I appreciate the dialogue with local school board members.
I’ve met with elected officials and leaders from the Anacortes Family Center and Habitat for Humanity of Island County to discuss ways to improve housing affordability in our community.
Finally, I’ve continued to work with community groups, elected officials, and local health experts on improving mental health outcomes, including the implementation of the $750,000 budget proviso I secured for Island County to better serve young people in our community.
