Isabella Loy reports on the Stanwood-Camano School Board for the Stanwood Camano News.

The Stanwood-Camano School Board approved a replacement levy for the Feb. 13, 2024, special election at its most recent meeting.

Stanwood-Camano residents will vote on the renewal of the district’s four-year Educational Programs and Operations levy, which is expiring this year.

Voters will be asked to pay $1.42 per $1,000 of assessed property value. This equates to about $59 per month for the owner of a $500,000 home.

They Said It

Superintendent Deborah Rumbaugh explained that if the levy does not pass, the district will have to decide where to cut that 16% in reduced funds.

These cuts will likely come from after-school activities such as sports and recreation, staff positions and/or safety personnel.
