Hotel-Motel Tax Tourism Proposals Sought

The 2026 Island County 2% Hotel-Motel Tax Tourism Promotions application packet will be available beginning July 1, 2025. Funding is generated from overnight lodging in the unincorporated areas of Island County. This program aims to support and promote the tourism economy and regenerative tourism in Island County.

Island County estimates $725,000 of lodging tax revenue (including up to 38% of the total amount allocated to chambers of commerce (and all chamber events); 20% allocated to museums, historical societies, and Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve; 30% allocated to non-chamber related community events; and 13% allocated for one-time capital funding requests). Historically, the program has funded approximately 25-30 proposals for Whidbey and Camano Island events, visitor centers, and tourism activities.
