DAVE PAUL: ICYMI: This is Downright Scary

State Representative Dave Paul (D-Oak Harbor)

Rep. Dave Paul’s campaign email account (dave@votedavepaul.com) sent the following email on Sat. Jul. 10, 2021:

Dear Friends,

I was shocked and disappointed to learn that State Representative Jim Walsh made hurtful comments in late June,  and wore a yellow Star of David while comparing vaccine policies to the Holocaust. Rep. Walsh, a Republican from Aberdeen, likes to be provocative—but his comments were quickly condemned by Jewish groups and even other Republican lawmakers.

Walsh later apologized, but his comments underscore what’s at stake in the next election. You see, if Republicans win the majority, Jim Walsh will almost certainly become the Chair of the House Civil Rights and Judiciary Committee. He’s currently the ranking member of the Civil Rights and Judiciary Committee—can you imagine the damage he can do as Chair of this critical committee?

You know that I can work well with nearly anybody, and I have a strong record of collaborating across the aisle. But the idea of Jim Walsh being Chair of a key House Committee is appalling.

Let’s not let that happen. Let’s redouble our commitment to retaining the majority—and putting your priorities first in the Washington State Legislature.

Please donate now.

Jim Walsh has long disregarded the safety of our community during the pandemic. In fact, he spoke at the infamous 2020 Skagit County GOP fundraiser organized by my 2020 opponent.

We are the #1 target of the House Republicans who desperately want to flip the 10th District.

Please donate today to help ensure that I can keep putting your priorities first in the Legislature—and to help keep Jim Walsh far away from the gavel.

With your help, I know we can do just that. Please donate today.

(Editor’s Note: Additional donation links, for amounts of $25, $50, and $100 are omitted here.)

Thank you for your support, and thanks for all you do to support our community.

Sincerely,

Dave
