Friends,

Over the last three years, I’ve met with many of you to learn more about community priorities. It’s very important to me that I listen to constituents and collaborate with community groups when developing our legislative agenda.

I’ve truly enjoyed working with local and state leaders to champion our community’s priorities in the Legislature, and it’s exciting to see these investments being implemented.

Here’s a quick update on some of the projects that I’ve championed in the Legislature.

Earlier this year, I met with leaders the North Whidbey Pool, Park and Recreation District commissioners and learned that both the roof and boiler at the John Vanderzicht Memorial Pool needed replacement. The Oak Harbor Pool is an important asset for many in our community and is beloved by families, youth swim teams, and seniors. I’m proud to have secured $250,000 in the state Capital Budget to help fund these much-needed repairs to the pool—and support the quality of life in our community.

Outdoor recreation is also a critical component to the quality of life in our community. The Deception Pass State Park is a community treasure and is the most-visited state park in Washington. I’m very excited to have collaborated with local leaders and conservation groups to secure over $4 million in grantsto support the Park, including nearly $2 million for the purchase of 83 acres to expand the Deception Pass State Park on south Fidalgo Island. Finally, I’ve worked closely with local community groups and our legislative delegation to support youth mentoring and valuable before-and-after school programming. Last session, I co-sponsored the Capital Budget request that will allow the Coupeville Boys and Girls Clubto build a new facility to serve local youth and families for years to come.

I’m proud to champion these kinds of investments in our community—and to put your priorities first in our Legislature.

As always, it’s an honor to serve as your state representative.

Sincerely,

Dave
