SOUTH WHIDBEY RECORD: Write-in candidate challenges newcomer to Langley politics
The race for Langley City Council position 5, currently held by Peter Morton, is coming down to a contest between Gail Fleming and Tony Gill as Morton is not seeking re-election.
Fleming touts her long experience working in the public sector in Langley and is a founding member of the Langley Critical Area Alliance. “What sets me apart from the other candidate is my experience in city government,” she said.
Tony Gill, if elected, would join his son, Thomas Gill, who currently holds a seat on the Langley City Council. Gill’s decision to run for the city council stems from, among other things, his desire to contribute to discussions on what he terms “longstanding issues” with failing infrastructure. For more details about the positions each candidate holds, see the story by Kira Erickson.
