WHIDBEY NEWS-TIMES: Voters to pick between business owner, community advocate for city council

Dan Evans, a local business owner and past president of the Oak Harbor Main Street Association is competing with Fe Mischo, a community advocate and worker at the Spin Cafe, for the seat on the Oak Harbor City Council being vacated by Erica Wasinger who is not seeking re-election.

Mischo is a strong advocate for seeing the city use the $6.5 million received from the American Rescue Plan for Transitional Housing. She said “the city needs more developers who will create affordable housing. We don’t need the $500,000 – $700,000 homes here.”

Evans commented that the city already has an affordable housing plan in place and that they need to implement it. He also said “the City Council must hold the Mayor and City Administrator accountable. It is time for the political drama to end and we start getting the people’s work done” in reference to the Council’s recent no-confidence vote in City Administrator Blaine Oborn.

• Position 7 – Andy Plumlee vs Bryan Stucky – Incumbent Millie Goebel not running
