A range of signs and symptoms can occur when a person overdoses, and everyone responds differently. If you can’t get a response from someone, do not assume they are asleep. Always call 9-1-1 if you suspect someone has overdosed.
Seeking emergency help isn’t just for when someone is unconscious. You should also seek help when someone is:
– having a seizure
– experiencing severe headache
– experiencing chest pain
– experiencing breathing difficulties
– extremely paranoid, agitated and/or confused
WhidbeyHealth EMS offers a number of community education programs, one of which can help you save a life before first responders arrive: ACT Training.
ACT (Antidote, CPR, Tourniquet) is a 1-hour class that teaches you the vital skills you can use to save a life before EMS arrives.
