Christina Elliott (D-Oak Harbor), candidate for Island County Commissioner, District 2, posted this on her Facebook page on .
Whidbey is my home. It’s where we bought our very first house, and spent our honeymoon ripping out moldy floors instead of drinking on a beach 🏖️
We didn’t think we’d make it here, which is why when we did, we knew it would be our forever home.
There were so many hurdles to overcome on our way here, like an ord mod that almost rerouted our entire future, a house that never seemed to materialize, and then when it did, an unlivable first few months as we attempted to get rid of all the mold.
We fought so hard to be here, and that’s what makes it that much more important for me to run for county commissioner— because I am here to stay.
And in those years to come, I’ll always know that somewhere under our feet is a heart with our initials in it, and the words, “our first house.”
I wouldn’t have it any other way.
P.S. My lovely hubby had this dinner ready waiting for me as we ended the @lwvwhidbey forum tonight. He is the literal best.
