Janet St. Clair (D-Camano Island), candidate for State Senator, 10th Legislative District, posted this on her Facebook page on .

So, this is kind of a long post but a good story…

Last night we went to the Aquasox game and invited our volunteers who knocked on the doors of 16,000 voters in the 10th. It was Snohomish & Island County Labor Council night at the Sox and I need to also recognize all the volunteers from Washington State Labor Council and SEIU 775 SEIU Local 925 SEIU Healthcare 1199NW and UFCW 3000 who came out to knock on doors.

So, I’m in a looong line for my hotdog talking to the guys behind me. They worked for a local broadband company and have been working on the internet buildouts in our region. One guy was so proud of his work and his union in helping him get a living wage job when he left the navy and move up in skills and pay. He talked to me about his plans and progress on getting certified as a network specialist.

I talked about my work in broadband expansion and how I was now working on policy to protect and expand local jobs. He was a proud member of IBEW 89.

But I gotta go. I have an early meeting with Sno-Isle Tech Center about exactly this. That’s just part of my work-building internet access for our businesses and residents, and building local jobs.
