Oak Harbor has reached an agreement with developer Pacific North Group, Inc., headed by Scott Thompson, that allows for flexibility in, among other things, adhering to city code concerning the filing of final plats for the development of a housing project on the hill above Walmart. The City Council approved the agreement with Councilmember Jim Woessner claiming a financial conflict of interest and abstaining from the vote.

In the story by Jessie Stensland, she writes “Councilmember Jeffrey Mack said the project will provide much-needed housing in the community and the addition of sewage customers could help control rates.” Stensland also writes that “Councilmember Joel Servatius pointed out that the pandemic increased the cost and predictability of construction.”

With reference to the approved agreement with Pacific North Group, Inc. Joel Servatius also commented “I don’t think flexibility is a bad thing,” and that “I don’t think thinking out of the box is a bad thing.”
