Earlier this year I was in Washington D.C. meeting with our federal delegation to lobby for broadband infrastructure, the Island County solid waste facility, and ferries. Senator Cantwell and Congressman Larsen were both very supportive, identifying specific policies we can address in the other Washington to increase funding for our ferry system. I continue to work with both our state and federal electeds to bring back a world class ferry system to Puget Sound. It is a critical transportation link for our communities.
The system is operating with 15 boats but needs 26 for full service. WSF isn’t planning to restore full service until 2028.
