Christina Elliott (D-Oak Harbor), candidate for Island County Commissioner, District 2, posted this on her Facebook page on .
I’m thrilled to announce FairVote Washington @fairvotewa, a leading advocate for Ranked Choice Voting (RCV), is endorsing my campaign. This endorsement means a lot to me, as I strongly believe in the power of RCV to transform our electoral process.
Ranked Choice Voting allows every vote to count. This system reduces the pressure to choose the “lesser of two evils” and encourages more diverse and representative elections. It also promotes positive campaigning, as candidates aim to be the second or third choice of their opponents’ supporters.
RCV empowers voters to express their true preferences without fear of wasting their vote. This leads to fairer outcomes and helps to ensure that elected officials truly represent the will of the people. By adopting RCV, we can foster a healthier democracy where every voice is heard.
I’m committed to advocating for RCV whenever possible because I believe it will lead to better and more responsive leadership. With FairVote Washington’s endorsement, I am more determined than ever to push for this important change.
Thank you, FairVote Washington, for your support! Together, we can make our elections more fair and equitable.
