Oak Harbor City Councilor Bryan Stucky posted this to his Facebook page on .
Much of the time these issues are on private properties such as parking lots. However, there are other times when they are on public property, and it may be something we as a city need to address.
That being said comments on Facebook is not the best way to ask that these issues get investigated. Staff is not constantly monitoring social media for comments. While I try to respond when I see them, “Official” correspondence is the best way to have the city look into the issue. Here is an example of a local community member who had an issue with the sidewalk in front of their house. After chatting with the individual, I directed him to this link:

Staff came out and assessed the situation. They carefully evaluate each issue to see if a full replacement or a repair is needed. I’ve never known them not to investigate or respond to an issue when community members take the time to reach out to them directly. If there is public property that you are concerned about, I’d encourage you to try out the link above. Yes it does require you to create a free account which can take an extra moment or two. But doing so is the best way to get things taken care of.
