Orange Shirt Day — Every Child Matters is Tuesday, Sept. 30

Our schools will honor Orange Shirt Day on Tuesday — and we encourage students, staff, families, and community members to wear orange in support.

Orange Shirt Day began with Phyllis Webstad’s story of having her new orange shirt taken when she arrived at school. It raises awareness of the residential boarding school system’s history of forcibly assimilating Indigenous children, recognizes the trauma it caused, and honors survivors and those who did not return home.
