The Whidbey News-Times’ Jessie Stensland reports that Island County Assessor Mary Engle is moving permanently to the job of Planning Director. She has been serving as the interim Planning Director since last August. The Island County Republican Party will submit a list of three candidates to the Board of County Commissioners, who will select Engle’s successor. Engle recommends her Chief Deputy, Jason Joiner, for the job.
