Island County Board of Commissioners – Work Session
February 16, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
The Board of County Commissioners meets in Work Session routinely on the first three Wednesdays of each month (unless otherwise scheduled). Work sessions are public meetings which provide an opportunity in an informal workshop format for the Board to review in detail ongoing issues with individual departments and elected officials. This time also is used for the Board to meet with other agencies, committees and groups to discuss specific topics of mutual interest. Items are typically first reviewed at Work Session before being scheduled on the agenda for the Board’s regular business meetings held on Tuesdays. The agenda for this meeting can be found at this link.
Topics of interest include: a discussion of the annual renewal of a contract with the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office for transport of inmates by Sheriff Rick Felici; a presentation on an emergency performance grant agreement with the US Department of Homeland Security, and on Real Estate Tax Funding (REET) for projects in Freeland, by Public Works Director Connie Bowers; the February Treasurer’s Report presented by chief deputy treasurer Tony Lam; an amendment to the contract with the North Sound Behavioral Health Administrative Services Organization by Human Services Director Lynda Austin; and a discussion of the county commissioners’ 2022 Work Plan with Board Staff.
