Janet St. Clair (D-Camano Island), candidate for State Senator, 10th Legislative District, posted this on her Facebook page on .
Money in politics…a story by Jerry Cornfield.
I’m proud of our grassroots campaign fueled by hundreds of individual donors giving an average of $130 and volunteers out with me knocking on the doors of over 30,000 voters. Even the large independent expenditure PAC represents local Republican and Democrat nurses, healthcare workers, caregivers, educators, and advocates for justice. I also have the support of workers across our region including firefighters, Boeing IAM Machinists, carpenters, laborers, bus drivers and many more.
“The single largest source of outside money in this contest is the New Direction PAC, an alliance of Democratic and Republican groups and three of the state’s most powerful labor organizations: SEIU 775, Washington Education Association, SEIU Healthcare 1199NW.“
It’s because I am about people, not politics, and will always put people first. I have tried to keep our message focused on policies and voting records. I will continue my work on healthcare access and affordability, working families, children and protection for seniors.
More than $100 million has been spent statewide, including nearly $3 million in a race covering Snohomish and Island counties.
