Voters’ overwhelming approval of a public safety sales tax will help increase revenue for the city of Langley.
As of Thursday night, 81%, or 564 people, voted in favor of the sales and use tax for criminal justice and public safety. Officials have noted that the tax will provide an additional $51,000 annually, which is good news for Langley’s ongoing dire financial situation.

“I am heartened and relieved that the city has received a vote of confidence in general and for our police department in specific,” Mayor Kennedy Horstman said Thursday. “The funding made possible by the public safety sales tax is a much-needed boost to covering expenses related to public safety services.”
