2022 end-of-session update: community investments and upcoming town hall

Friends and neighbors,

The 2022 legislative session just concluded, and I’m proud to have fought for local priorities and projects throughout the past 60 days.

Here’s a quick update on some of the investments that I helped secure in the 2022 transportation, capital, and operating budgets.

  • $1.6 million to improve ferry services, including four new hybrid-electric ferries and new funding for the recruitment and training of ferry personnel
  • $4 million for the Mount Vernon Library Commons project
  • $7 million to purchase electric buses for Island Transit
  • $3.5 million to construct the Clinton to Ken’s Corner Trail
  • Over $640,000 to complete construction of the La Conner Regional Library
  • $875,000 to fund Habitat for Humanity’s Heron Park workforce house project
  • $250,000 to the City of Langley for increased workforce housing
  • $270,000 to Island Senior Resources to upgrade its facilities
  • $250,000 to the Northwest Career and Technical Academy in Mount Vernon
  • $400,000 to South Whidbey Parks and Recreation for its proposed aquatic wellness center
  • $330,000 for Camp Korey to improve its telemedicine services
  • $500,000 to help to eliminate Running Start course costs for eligible students
  • $103,000 for Pilchuck Glass Studio in Stanwood

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to meet with me and advocate for these projects. These investments will strengthen our community for generations to come.
