The Old Goats – Fully Informed Voters (a goal) – Luncheon with Langley Police Chief Tavier Wasser

Chief Wasser has been on the south end of Whidbey Island since 1998. He graduated from South Whidbey High School and previously had attended Langley Middle School. After high school Tavier moved to DC for his time in the United States Marine Corps. During his time in the Marine Corps, Tavier served as a Presidential Security Marine in charge of asset and presidential security. After his time with the Marines, he moved back to Whidbey and immediately started with the Island County Sheriff’s Office. Since then, he has attained his Master level certification in Crisis/Hostage Negotiations, WACJTC SWAT Operator, Field Training Officer, and several community-oriented projects.

We wanted to get to know Chief Wasser, so we hooked up with him with Wanda Grone’s help. Wanda worked with Chief Wasser on the Langley City Staff for over a year and sings his praises very highly.

When we asked Chief Wasser if he would come and tell us about himself and his job, he said something like, “Sure, I’d be happy to talk to some Old Goats about what’s important to me and my job, who I am, and why it is worth talking to/with each other.”

We are in for a treat meeting this dedicated peace officer and discussing his work in Langley and throughout South Whidbey. We will learn about what is working and what may need our help as citizens.
