ELECTIONS 2025: League of Women Voters Oct. 2025 Coupeville candidate forum [VIDEO]

The League of Women Voters Whidbey Island (LWVWI) hosted a forum for candidates via Zoom on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025. The forum consisted of two segments, one for the Coupeville Town Council candidates, and one for the Whidbey Island Public Hospital District (WhidbeyHealth) commissioner candidates. The following candidates were invited:
Coupeville Town Council
- Position 4: Evan Henrich
- Position 5: Kristo Allred and Brandon Roos
Kristo Allred did not participate.
Candidates were asked about affordable housing, shoreline and farmland protection, economic diversification, working with other jurisdictions, and transparency and public participation. Each candidate was allowed two minutes for a closing statement.
Public Hospital District
- Position 3: James Canby and Christina LaClaire
- Position 4: Mark E. Borden and Linda Gipson
- Position 5: Kirk Gasper and Dennis Rochier
Christina LaClaire, Mark Borden, and Dennis Rochier did not participate.
Candidates were asked about the role of commissioner and their vision for the hospital, equitable access to care, financial challenges at the district, transparency, keeping services local, and recruiting providers. Each candidate was allowed two minutes for a closing statement.
