Board Corner
On Monday, November 3, 2025, at 6:30pm,the South Whidbey School Board will have a SPECIAL BUSINESS MEETING via ZOOM WEBINAR ONLY
Please click THIS LINK to join the webinar. Passcode: 234129 Webinar ID: 881 5979 3362
Purpose of Meeting:
During my last two business meetings, Superintendent Clifford updated the public on the construction and bidding process. The external team has now finalized the bidding process after working diligently to meet all legal requirements and ensure proper contractor coverage for each project.
The district needs board approval of the final contract amount so they can execute the contracts and secure the sub-contractors.
Why We Cannot Wait Until November 19:
While we explored waiting until our regularly scheduled November 19 meeting, we must move forward now for the following reasons:
- There is a legal timeline to formally respond to the Bid proposals
- The district needs to lock in the estimated cost of each project before prices increase due to changes in the economic environment and potential tariff impacts
- Most importantly, we do not want to delay the start of the work
Future Meetings:
- November 19: Workshop/Business Meeting
- November 20-22 WSSDA Annual Conference, Seattle
- December 10 Workshop/Business Meeting
— Brook Willeford, Board Chair
