SOUTH WHIDBEY: School board named “board of distinction” for third year in a row

Congratulations to the South Whidbey School Board for being named a 2025 Board of Distinction for the third year in a row. Last week, the Washington State School Directors’ Association (WSSDA) announced the 2025 Boards of Distinction recipients.This recognition honors school boards across Washington that demonstrate strong, student-centered governance aligned with the Washington School Board Standards. Boards earning this distinction show clear evidence of improving student outcomes, reducing opportunity gaps, and aligning their decision-making with strategies that support student success. The award highlights thoughtful leadership and accountable governance that goes above and beyond daily operations. South Whidbey’s honor is extra special as it is one of only three small district boards that have been recognized as a Board of Distinction every year for the past 3 years! The other districts that hold this honor are much larger districts in the state. Congratulations to our volunteer school board directors. You make a difference!
