May 20, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
- You are invited to attend the Old Goats- Fully Informed Voters (a goal) Lunch on Friday, 20 May, noon – 2pm, at The Holmes Harbor Rod & Gun Club, 3334 Brooks Hill Rd., Langley. Friday, 20 May is the deadline to file as a candidate in Washington State. (See WA dates and deadlines https://www.sos.wa.gov/elections/dates-and-deadlines.aspx )
- Our Guest Speakers will be the two currently announced Republican Candidates for Island County Commissioner, Position #3 = much of North Whidbey Island and all of Camano Island, Rick Hannold and Tim Hazelo, both live on North Whidbey. At this Lunch Meeting we will listen to these candidates present their reasons for running for election and their qualifications. We will politely, clearly, and briefly tell them of our interests in County Government and ask them questions that hopefully will provide us with insight about their ability to represent us a Member of the Board of Island County Commissioners.
- The Primary Election is on August 2nd. Look here for additional Current Election Information https://www.sos.wa.gov/elections/current-election-information.aspx This Island County Government Guide suggests the complexity of a County Commissioner’s job https://www.islandcountywa.gov/Documents/Island-County-Guide.pdf It may provide fertile ground that stimulates your potential questions.
- Lunch is limited to two options and costsapproximately $23.00 including tax and tip. There is a $3.00 ‘room charge’ and a $3.00 coffee fee only if you do not order lunch. Nothing is free! None of the money goes to Reece or Rufus. We pay for the candy that is passed around.
