🍂🦃 Happy Thanksgiving, North Whidbey Fire & Rescue Family! 🦃🍂

As we gather with loved ones to celebrate this season of gratitude, we want to help ensure your holiday is filled with joy, comfort, and safety. Preparing the Thanksgiving turkey is a cherished tradition, and a few simple safety tips can keep your meal—and your home—safe.

🦃 Turkey Safety & Cooking Tips:

Thaw safely: Always thaw your turkey in the refrigerator—never on the counter. Allow 24 hours of thawing time for every 4–5 pounds.

Keep it clean: Wash your hands and sanitize surfaces often to prevent cross-contamination.

Cook thoroughly: Your turkey is safely cooked when the internal temperature reaches 165°F in the thickest parts of the breast, thigh, and wing.

Fryer safety: If you’re deep-frying, do it outdoors, on level ground, away from structures. Make sure the turkey is completely thawed and dry before lowering it into hot oil.

Never leave cooking unattended: Stay close and stay alert—most holiday fires start in the kitchen.

From our fire family to yours, we are thankful for this incredible community. May your Thanksgiving be filled with warmth, safety, and wonderful memories.

🍁 Stay safe, stay grateful, and enjoy every moment.
Happy Thanksgiving! 🧡
