Lunch Time Legos at South Whidbey!
Thanks to teacher, Melanie Readshaw, South Whidbey Middle and High school students have another lunchtime social activity – building Legos. Each Thursday, she has a record number of middle schoolers attend. Students are talking, laughing, eating, and being creative. Originally, Mrs. Readshaw was simply trying to offer students who may want a quieter space to eat and do Legos. But it has become a popular social session.
Lunchtime Legos is made possible with bins of legos donated by SWMS and personal purchases made by Melanie and Lawrence Readshaw (South Whidbey alum -class of ‘92). The couple purchased smaller sets to ensure students had time to complete them during lunch. Additionally, they brought in several larger LEGO sets and allow students to save and continue their builds till the following week.
Lunchtime Legos is available every Thursday at lunch, to both high school and middle school students. HS students need to sign up with Mrs. Readshaw in advance. MS student can just come in. So far, only middle school students have attended. This activity is planned to be available for the rest of the school year.
