Coupeville Wharf Dock Storm Damage
The Coupeville Wharf dock was damaged in the strong December storms and it’s currently closed to pedestrians and boats. The good news is: a new dock was already under construction!
The new dock is a custom design to better accommodate Penn Cove weather patterns. Safety measures include elongating the gangway
and adding stronger metal cleats on the surface for better traction in rough weather. The new dock will be installed in early February.
The Wharf and dock are important to Coupeville tourism and together they support the economy of the town’s small businesses. Annually, the dock supports 1500 boats carrying an estimated 5000+ passengers.
This dock rehab work completes a multi-year project to upgrade the Coupeville Wharf.
