South Whidbey Elementary School is holding its annual food drive to benefit the Good Cheer Food Pantry. January is National Poverty in America month. It’s also a time when we engage our students in community service projects to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This is a great time to talk to your kids about community and helping others. Please consider donating to our food drive. Last year we collected 1,760 items. This year our goal is to collect 2,000 items.

The food is underway now and will run through February 13.

Check out the wish list for food donations. Please note that our school is only collecting non- perishable items:
Top Needed Items
Proteins: Canned tuna, salmon, chicken, and peanut butter.
Canned Goods: fruit juice, vegetables, beans, stews, and pasta sauce.
Staples: Whole-grain pasta, rice, and cereal.
Household/Personal Care: Soap, toothpaste, and cleaning supplies.
