When livestock step onto a performing arts stage, you know it’s a different kind of learning day at Stanwood High.

The Country Living Expo & Modern Homesteading Conference returned this past Saturday and once again transformed the campus into a hub for practical skills and shared learning.

With more than 180 classes offered, attendees explored everything from how to make traditional Scandinavian krumkake to flower arranging, food preservation, animal care, and sustainable living practices. One of the most memorable sights of the day was livestock right on our PAC stage, turning a performing arts space into an unforgettable classroom.

We were especially proud of our students, who didn’t just help — they led! Students taught community members how to weld, supported demonstrations, assisted instructors, and welcomed guests throughout the building.

Thanks also to the many staff members who volunteered at the event, which attracts about 1,000 from across the PNW each year!
