Congratulations to our January 2026 Employees of the Month!

Port Susan Middle School music teacher Johnathan Bletcher has been named the Certificated Employee of the Month. He was nominated because he is “an outstanding teacher and leader who consistently inspires students by meeting them where they are and helping them grow.” Whether supporting beginners or challenging advanced musicians, he creates a classroom environment built on patience, encouragement, and high expectations. At concerts, Mr. Bletcher uplifts his students, recognizing the hard work behind each performance and honoring their growth. His organization, warmth, and steady leadership have strengthened the music program and the broader school community.

The Classified Employees of the Month are bus drivers April Nickerson and Heather Stensaa, recognized for exceptional professionalism and care during a significant traffic delay on Jan. 6. As routes were extended for hours due to a series of traffic incidents on Camano Island, Heather and April kept students comfortable and engaged. One student shared, “Ms. Heather was great! She played games and was trying to make it fun!” Both April and Heather demonstrated steady leadership during a stressful situation. They ensured students felt safe and supported, arriving home hours later with professionalism and a reassuring presence. As one nomination noted, there is a difference between simply doing your job and excelling at it — and this team excels.

The Employee of the Month program celebrates employees who demonstrate exceptional commitment to students, families, and our school community.
