Two of our students are dancing onto the world stage

Two of our students are dancing onto the world stage.

Rachel Long, a freshman at Stanwood High School, and Madison Welte, a second grader at Saratoga School, have been selected to represent Team USA in international tap competition in Prague on Oct. 20.

They’ll compete against top tap dancers from around the world in what is called the “Dance Olympics.” Madison is believed to be the youngest dancer accepted into the Team USA tap circuit. Rachel’s journey to this stage has also been marked by resilience after a routine heart screening last fall during the Nick of Time Foundation event at SHS led to the discovery of two small holes in her heart. She has since been cleared to dance and is training with renewed determination.

Both dancers train at The Dance Project NW in Stanwood and now share the opportunity to represent our community on a world stage.
