CANDIDATE & ISSUES FORUM 2022
Serving Stanwood, Island County and North Snohomish County. Zoom Webinar format. 6:30 p.m. Meet the candidates running for office and hear about their most important goals and issues on this November’s ballot. This Webinar is presented by Stanwood-Camano AAUW in partnership with the Stanwood Camano News. There will be a wide variety of candidates presenting and include these positions: US Representative-District 2, 10th Legislative District, Snohomish County Prosecuting Attorney, PUD Commissioner for District 3, Island County Commissioner-District 3, Island County Sheriff, Clerk, Assessor, Treasurer, and Auditor. We expect to have an exciting evening meeting the candidates and hearing their positions on a variety of topics. You must register for the Webinar by going to aauwsc.org/candidateforum2022. The American Association of University Women (AAUW), Stanwood-Camano Branch, has not endorsed any candidates. However, their October 2022 newsletter indicates their 2022 legislative priorities included several bills on which 10th District Legislators Greg Gilday and Dave Paul voted:
HB1571: Concerning protections and services for indigenous persons who are missing, murdered, or survivors of human trafficking. Both Gilday and Paul supported.
HB1622: Increasing the availability of sexual assault nurse examiner education in rural and underserved areas. Both Gilday and Paul supported.
HB1659: Making higher education more affordable and accessible for students by bridging the gap between cost and need to reduce barriers, improve opportunity, and advance economic security. Both Gilday and Paul supported.
HB1851: Preserving a pregnant individual’s ability to access abortion care. Gilday opposed; Paul supported.
SB5649: Modifying the Washington state paid family and medical leave act. Both Gilday and Paul supported.
SB5761: Concerning employer requirements for providing wage and salary information to applicants for employment. Gilday opposed; Paul supported.]
