SOUTH WHIDBEY: SWSD Navigator Newsletter (May 22, 2025)

South Whidbey School District
South Whidbey School District

Board Corner

Last meeting, the school board had the honor to interview three excellent candidates for the role of student representative, and selected Luisa Russo to help speak for the students of the district on the board. We also had a presentation from the district equity team and discussed four pieces of policy with relatively minor suggested changes.

Outgoing student representative Carter McKnight will chair our next meeting, including swearing in Representative Russo. We will have a presentation on the district’s Highly Capable Learner program, and then we will vote on renewing the district’s WIAA membership, surplussing unnecessary buses, the four policies we discussed at our last meeting, and a couple of other items. It will be our last meeting before the end of the school year, and I know that both students and staff can’t wait. Here’s to a great end of the year and summer to follow for everyone!

On Wednesday, May 28, 2025 the South Whidbey School Board will have a Business Meeting followed by an Executive Session at 6:30pm, via ZOOM WEBINAR and IN PERSON at the South Whidbey Elementary School Dr. Julie Hadden Community Board Room at 5380 Maxwelton Road, Langley.
