A big drumroll for Cedarhome Elementary!
The Stanwood-Camano School District posted this on its website on 2025-10-12 17:00:00.

Cedarhome Elementary just learned they are receiving two major awards that will expand hands-on music opportunities for students!
- A Gesa Credit Union Local Heroes Grant of $500
- A $4,000 grant from the Stillaguamish Tribe
Together, these grants will provide enough funding to purchase a full class set of drums and other percussion instruments. That means every student can participate at once on “drum days,” building skills in rhythm, literacy, collaboration, and focus — and having fun while they learn.
Music teacher Emily McKagan shared that these resources will help students stay fully engaged: “This will put an instrument into the hands of every kid the whole time we’re playing without having to take turns. Ultimately, this will help them learn faster — and engagement is always 100% on the days we pull out drums.”
This achievement reflects our Strategic Plan commitment to safe and supportive learning environments and continuous growth and achievement for every student. With these new resources, Cedarhome students are sure to keep hitting the high notes in their musical journey.
A big thank you to Gesa Credit Union and the Stillaguamish Tribe for their generosity and belief in our students. Your support makes a lasting difference in their education and in our community.
Now that’s music to our ears!
