Hello community members!
By now, you’ve likely seen information from the district about our upcoming Safety & Infrastructure Levy — both in your inbox and out in the community.
In case you missed them, please see our first two weekly levy messages:
- Week 1: Why this Safety & Infrastructure Levy matters
- Week 2: What will this Safety & Infrastructure Levy cost?
My hope is that you’re taking a few moments to read those messages, talk with friends and neighbors, and ask questions as they come up.
I also want to share how encouraged I’ve been by the level of community engagement so far. On Thursday evening, we held our first public levy presentation at the Camano Island Library (you can rewatch it here). The questions and conversations we’re hearing reinforce how much our community cares about safe, well-maintained schools.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll continue offering opportunities to learn more — including additional in-person presentations and several interactive online conversations with school and district leaders. These sessions are designed to make it easy to hear directly from us, explore what’s being proposed at specific schools, and ask questions in real time or afterward.
Whether you attend an event in person, join a livestream, or watch a recording later, I encourage you to stay engaged and informed as information continues to roll out across the district and community. The upcoming events:
- 3:45 p.m. Jan. 13 — Interactive, online livestream conversation on district social channels
- 5:30 p.m. Jan. 13 — General presentation open to the public at SCAF (26911 98th Dr NW Suite A, Stanwood, WA)
- 9 a.m. Jan. 15 — Interactive, online livestream conversation on district social channels
- 2:30 p.m. Jan. 20 — Interactive, online livestream interview with Stanwood-Camano News on the newspaper’s social media channels
- 8:30 a.m. Jan. 21 — Interactive, online livestream interview with Citizens for a Better Stanwood-Camano School Board on the group’s public Facebook page
- 2:15 p.m. Jan. 22 — Interactive, online livestream conversation on district social channels
And we’re hoping to add even more events! Thank you for taking the time to learn more and for being an important part of our Stanwood-Camano community.
And remember: Election Day is Feb. 10.
— Ryan Ovenell, interim superintendent
