CAMANO: Nominations open for vacant Camano Fire Commissioner position

Jan Treml announced her resignation from the Board of Fire Commissioners effective Feb. 11, 2025. The Board of Commissioners nominated Maria Carlstrom as a candidate to fill Jan Treml’s vacant Board seat.
Camano residents interested in nominating themselves or others to the vacant seat on the Board of Fire Commissioners should submit their nominations no later than 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 5. Submit nominations by contacting the Board Secretary, Amy Martin, by email at amartin@camanofire.com, by phone at 360-387-1512, or in person at the Administration Building, 811 N. Sunrise Blvd. Camano Island, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
At its next meeting on March 10, the Board will reconvene to consider and vote to appoint a candidate nominated for the vacant position. If approved at the March 10 meeting, the candidate appointed to Treml’s position will serve as interim commissioner through the end of 2025. To complete the remainder of Treml’s term, which ends in 2027, the interim commissioner must run for re-election in the November 2025 general election.
