CAMANO: Preliminary election results show passage of school levy (SCN)

Isabella Loy reports on the results of the Stanwood-Camano school levy election for the Stanwood Camano News.

Preliminary election results for the Stanwood-Camano School District levy show the measure passing by 60.35%.

Camano Island showed a 27.27% voter turnout as of Tuesday evening, while Stanwood had a turnout of 33.75%.

About 1,500 ballots are left to be counted in Island County, and 500 remain in Snohomish County.

They Said It

Superintendent Deborah Rumbaugh offered her thanks to voters that supported the levy in a statement posted on the district’s website. 

“Thanks to your support, we can continue to provide the quality education our children deserve, maintain the essential services that keep our schools safe, and invest in ensuring all students have opportunities to succeed,” her statement said.

“We recognize that our voters have agreed to this levy with the expectation that the money will be carefully spent and we pledge to continue meeting that expectation.”
