CAMANO: School Board awards Employees of the Year

The Stanwood-Camano School Board honored the Employees of the Year during its regular meeting on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.
Stanwood High teacher Michael Randall received the Certificated Employee of the Year award. The science teacher and track and field coach was nominated for going above and beyond each and every day.
Kristal Gollihar, our transportation dispatcher and a bus driver, was honored as the Classified Employee of the Year. She was nominated by several people who want to acknowledge her countless hours of work and volunteering.
The School Board also presented its Special Recognition Award to Evan Caldwell, the district’s Director of Communications, for ongoing commitment and dedicated service to families, students, staff and district community.
Deputy superintendent Ryan Ovenell gave a District Safety Update, recapping the safety efforts over the past school year.
Ruth Floyd, Executive Director of Business Services, gave a brief report about Disposal of Surplus Vehicle/Equipment.
Superintendent Dr. Deborah Rumbaugh then introduced Elizabeth Sanchez, the new Elger Bay Elementary principal, to the board.
The school board then accepted one donation:
- $965.48 from the Camano Island Friends of the Library to cover transportation costs for the Utsalady Elementary School field trip to the Camano Library.
