Isabella Loy reports from the Stanwood-Camano School District board meeting of Wed., June 18, 2024 for the Stanwood Camano News.

The Stanwood-Camano School District Board of Directors approved the superintendent’s contract renewal at its Tuesday, June 18 meeting — as well as administrator salaries for the 2024-25 school year.

Superintendent Deborah Rumbaugh’s contract was renewed through June 30, 2027, keeping her annual salary at $250,000.

The Stanwood-Camano School Board also approved administrator salaries for the 2024-25 school year.

On Tuesday’s agenda to approve alongside the salaries was a memorandum of understanding which stated that administrator salaries will “only be increased at the implicit price deflator rate of 3.7% for the 24-25 school year.”

They Said It

Director Betsy Foster brought up concerns about the implicit price deflator percentage increase after it had already been approved by the board.

“I think the community should have an opportunity to speak about that, as well as the five of us (board members) because I haven’t seen anything of it,” she said.

Board Vice President Charlotte Murry reminded Foster that agendas are sent out the week before a board meeting and that directors are expected to pull items for discussion before approval.

“I hadn’t had an opportunity to read that,” Foster said.
