CAMANO: School district presents first draft of 2025-26 budget

A draft of the Stanwood-Camano School District’s 2025-26 school year budget was presented Tuesday, July 1, at a meeting of the district’s school board.
The district is budgeting for 4,807 full-time students, an increase of 16 compared to the 2024-25 school year.
Elementary enrollment is expected to decrease, while high school enrollment is expected to increase.

They Said It
School Board member Charlotte Murry asked about how the trends in federal funding have changed over the years.
Floyd said the major decreases happened during the 2024-25 school year, and the proposed funding for the coming year is about the same.
“Keep in mind, if something happens with the federal government where grants are reduced, then we will have to respond to that and make reductions in expenditures” [Executive Director of Business Services Ruth] Floyd said.
