Career and Technical Education (CTE)
A four-year university degree is not the only pathway to a living-wage job, and our state can better help connect high school students with apprenticeships, career and technical colleges, and employers. While we have made much progress in improving Running Start and College in the High School, we have work to do to make Career and Technical Education (CTE) Dual Credit more meaningful to students, post-secondary programs, and employers.
I’m leading efforts to do just this, writing legislation to bring K12 career and technical education (CTE) programs, high school skills centers, apprenticeship programs, and community colleges together to coordinate their work–and help students and families better understand how to enroll in post-secondary programs that lead living-wage jobs after graduation.
