Cascade PBS Newsroom reports that the Inslee Administration is missing or not adequately accounting for $1.17 Billion in Federal Covid Relief Funds. You read that right. This audit on state agencies comes from WA State Auditor Pat McCarthy (D). Unfortunately, the funds will likely not be recovered and the Feds may “claw it back” from WA taxpayers. Fiscal mismanagement from state government may cost us $2.34 BILLION total. Imagine what these billions could have paid for!
Many families, individuals, and small businesses struggled to get by during Covid and some never received unemployment benefits they paid into. Some never fully recovered and a good portion of this money was meant for them.
We need leaders who will safeguard and respect taxpayer funds. Remember, this is your money. State government must not allow this to ever happen again. It’s time for new leadership.
