WHIDBEY NEWS-TIMES: Coupeville’s insurer paid $285,000 to settle former clerk treasurer Jennifer Carpenter’s harassment and discrimination lawsuit against Mayor Molly Hughes, which was dismissed with prejudice; Hughes and the town admitted no wrongdoing.
CITY OF OAK HARBOR: Sandi Peterson has officially been sworn in as the new Councilmember for Seat 6 at the January 6, 2026 council meeting.

CITY OF OAK HARBOR: The City Council’s Jan. 6, 2026 meeting opened with the swearing-in of newly elected councilors. The council heard a presentation from the Oak Harbor Main Street Association, selected a Mayor Pro Tempore for 2026, passed a resolution for emergency repairs to the City’s marina, and approved two agreements and the purchase of motorcycles for the police department.
