LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS: Central Whidbey Candidate Forum

The League of Women Voters Whildbey Island (LWVWI) hosted a forum for candidates in Central Whidbey from 6:30 to 8:30 PM on Thursday, October 14, 2021. The forum consisted of three segments: Port of Coupeville Commissioners, Public Hospital District (WhidbeyHealth) Commissioner, Coupeville Town Council members, and Coupeville School District Directors. In each segment, candidates were asked a series of questions and then each candidate gave a closing statement.

NOTE: While LWVWI invited all candidates to participate in the forum, several did not attend. Two of the candidates for Port of Coupeville Commissioner, John S. Mishasek and Patrick Kennedy, did not appear, nor did Coupeville School Director candidate Paul Rempa.

On the Ballot in November 2021 – Port of Coupeville:

  • District 2 – John Mishasek – Incumbent running unopposed
  • District 3 – Patrick Kennedy vs Mike Seraphinoff – Incumbent Mohammad Mostafavinassab is not running

On the Ballot in November 2021 – Coupeville Town Councilmembers:

  • Position 4 – Incumbent Michael C. Moore is running unopposed
  • Position 5 – Incumbent Patricia Powell is running unopposed

On the Ballot in November 2021 – Island County Hospital Commissioners:

  • Position 2 – Incumbent Kurt Blankenship vs. James Golder

On the Ballot in November 2021 – Coupeville School District:

  • Position 2 – Nancy Conard vs Paul Rempa (Venessa Matros incumbent not running)
  • Position 3 – Sherry Phay – Incumbent, running unopposed
  • Position 5 – Ward Sparacio vs Morgan White
